Karen and I were able to spend most of the day with James. In the early evening Karen's brother, Phil, and his wife picked him up. They will be taking care of James until Wednesday at which point we will have him back for a few days before my sister gets him back again. There are times when I don't want him to visit because of how much it hurts when I have to say good-bye. However, he needs to know his parents and be comfortable with them. As hard as this is on me and Karen, in the long run we hope it will all be for the best for James.
Shortly after James left we went to visit Becca for a while. She is now over 4.5 pounds and improving after her set back earlier in the week. One of the nurses described it as the NICU rollercoaster which is an apt description. It may be a few more days before we can go back to feeding her from a bottle but as long as she is improving again we are happy. We are confident in the very capable staff there and know they are doing everything they can for her.
